Setting into the wilds to harvest an elk. My grandfather was lured to Colorado in the 1950s by the trout fishing and abundant game. I can easily say that the tradition of hunting the fourth season is my grandfathers only passion outside of work and family. One he has easily brought us into over time, three generations of Shockleys, together we will take to the forest in an attempt to harvest an animal, pack it out, and process the cuts. A tradition that has put meat on our table for as long as I can remember. I first began photographing this project in the fall of 2005 and continue to develop this visual essay with each passing year.
